Why the scribe should stay after the note

Most AI scribes stop at the note. The consult ends, a SOAP note lands in the record, and the tool goes quiet until the next appointment. That is a real saving — but it treats documentation as the finish line, when for the patient it is barely the start.

We built Hanah around a different idea: the scribe should stay. The same understanding of the consult that drafts your note can carry the plan forward — into the patient's home program, their follow-up, and the summary they actually read.

The note is a by-product, not the point

When you finish a session, you have already done the hard part: you listened, examined, reasoned, and agreed a plan with the person in front of you. Capturing that as a note is just transcription of a decision that already exists. The harder, higher-value work is everything that happens after the door closes:

• Turning the plan into a home program the patient can follow without you in the room.
• Translating clinical language into something a patient genuinely understands.
• Keeping them on track between visits, and surfacing what changed before the next one.

A scribe that disappears after the note leaves all of that to manual effort — or to nobody.

One understanding, many outputs

Because Hanah interprets the whole consult, the same source can produce the note, the referral, the insurance form, and the patient-facing plan — each in the right voice and format. You review and sign off; nothing is finalised without a clinician. But you are not re-entering the same information four times into four systems.

The measure of a scribe shouldn't be how fast it writes the note. It should be how little is left undone once the note is written.

Why "staying" is the hard part

Anyone can generate a note from a transcript. Staying useful after the note means understanding the patient over time — what the plan was, whether they followed it, how their outcomes are trending — and doing it without adding clicks to the clinician's day. That continuity is the work, and it is what we are building toward.
